Keith, in 146, you asked if anyone knew why it is bad to alternate server, UPS, server, UPS in racks. I can’t say that it is definitely bad, but I can say why we have chosen not to do that: Weight.
We reserve the bottom of our racks for UPS. We use some very heavy 4u and 8u UPSs, so it is much easier for us just to put them all at the bottom rather than lift them above our heads to get them up towards the top of our racks. You don’t want to be in the path of a falling UPS in case something goes wrong.
